This testimony is to express my gratitude to God for the blessings I have received through the study of Christian Science. I was raised in a Christian Science home and never had any medical care, but as I grew into young womanhood I acquired a false sense of what was important in life. Seeking popularity and what I then believed to be fun, I succumbed to the false habits of smoking and social drinking. Later, when I was married and had become a mother, I realized that these habits were false, and I wanted no part of them. With the help of a Christian Science friend they were destroyed, and in the five years since then I have had no desire whatsoever to return to them.

I now have two boys, and in the raising of them I am reminded of the verse in Psalms which says (46:1), "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." Influenza, colds, skin trouble, earache, and other ailments have been healed, and we have been protected from so-called contagious diseases.

When the older boy was just three and a half, there were quite a few cases of polio in our town. One Sunday morning he woke up and told us that he could not get up or move his shoulders at all. My mother, with whom we live, picked him up and carried him to the davenport. He appeared to be in great pain and asked us not to touch him again. We immediately called a practitioner. She began prayerful work, and we sang hymns from the Christian Science Hymnal to the child. Within six hours he was up and about, and by the next evening he was feeling well and playing happily.
