DON'T DEPEND ON COUNTERFEITS

No matter how close to the original a counterfeit comes, it is still a counterfeit and cannot withstand the law of Truth, which destroys it. In "Miscellaneous Writings" Mary Baker Eddy says (p. 61), "All the knowledge and vain strivings of mortal mind, that lead to death,—even when aping the wisdom and magnitude of immortal Mind,—will be swallowed up by the reality and omnipotence of Truth over error, and of Life over death."

On all sides mortal beliefs are attempting to counterfeit God's power. False suggestions argue in many different ways. They may insist that one cannot succeed in business with wholly honest methods; that one cannot really have a good time without indulging in sensuous pleasures; or that one cannot be actually healed without material means.

To be really successful, one has to gain subordination of self. To be really happy, one cannot base joy on anything as fluctuating as materiality, but must base joy on Soul; and to be really healed, one must be made better not only physically, but also mentally and morally.
