It is more than forty years since Christian Science was introduced to my mother, who was in great need at that time. She was healed of a severe nervous breakdown and has since had many happy years in the study of this beautiful religion. As a child of nine years I was taught to read the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly. Many times through my reading passages from Science and Health to my mother she was healed of pain and mental distress.

One healing stands out in my memory; so I should like to tell it in the hope that it may help others. When suffering from heart trouble, my mother appeared to be about to pass on. My brother, who is not interested in Christian Science, was very much alarmed, and he wanted to fetch a doctor. I asked him to wait a while, and told him that if he wished to go to bed, I would take care of our mother. I also told him not to fear.

We lived in a country district where there was no telephone; so I had no way of getting in touch with a practitioner. I began to think about the Lord's Prayer and its spiritual interpretation on pages 16 and 17 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. When I came to the line, "Thy kingdom is come; Thou art ever-present," I knew that the healing was taking place. It was not long before my mother roused and asked to be helped to bed. I am grateful to say that she spent a very comfortable night, and the next day was up and about her household duties.
