I have had so many wonderful proofs of the healing efficacy of Christian Science that I could not begin to tell of all of them. My first healing in Science was during the birth of our oldest son. My sister was informed that something was obstructing the birth of the child and that a Caesarean operation appeared inevitable. She had been studying Christian Science for just a short while, but she used what understanding she had to reject the medical laws that were laid down and to expect only good. The child was born so easily and quickly that the doctor in attendance called the experience a miracle. After that I began to study Christian Science.

When quite small, one of our children grew very ill. I do not know what the difficulty would have been called, but I do know that I was almost overwhelmed with fear, as the child had been in that condition for several days. One evening the practitioner whom we had engaged came out to see us. She spent some time talking to the child and also to his father and me. She reminded us to think of the story of the Shunammite mother in the Bible who, even when her son appeared to be dead, declared (II Kings 4:26), "It is well."

The next day our boy was about the same as he had been. Along toward evening, while washing dishes, I said aloud to myself, "Oh, why can't this be met?" Immediately the answer came as clearly as if it had been spoken, "It has been met." I felt as though a great weight had been lifted from me, and that night I sang and laughed with the child. We both felt joyous and free. The next day he was well and went out into the yard to play ball with his father.
