Jesus said (John 3:3), "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." Like Nicodemus, I used to think that this statement was an enigma. Then Christian Science came into my life, and I found out the true meaning of Jesus' words.

Before that I had been ill and lonely, and I could see no future for myself. I was a medical nurse and was suffering from a serious disease of the heart. I had been in the hospital five times in one year and was taking seven kinds of medicine. I carried one medicine in my purse at all times in case of a sudden attack. Christian Science healed me of the distressing condition which troubled me.

Afterward I was recommended for work I had never done, and I spent about two happy years with this work. Then, at a time of life when it is considered hard to learn new work, I was led into an entirely new field of activity in a strange city. I did this difficult work for about a year, and then I prayed: "Dear Father, I know You led me here. Please show me why." Within a week I was accepted for class instruction, and shortly I was doing work that has ever since been all joy. God has indeed shown me why I am here.
