THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD

"Be still, and know that I am God"—
Divine demand, "Be still, and know."
The sheep beneath the shepherd's rod
Know he will tell them how to go,
Serenely follow, day or night,
Untroubled as to why or where,
Trusting his way is always right,
Sure of his tender, watchful care.

As confident and trusting sheep
Are unafraid, shall I not know
That if I wake or if I sleep
My Shepherd guards? Can I not go,
Unfaltering, my appointed way
Beside my Shepherd, night or day?
