It is with a deep sense of gratitude...

It is with a deep sense of gratitude for Christian Science and the consecrated workers in our movement that I submit the following testimony. About nine years ago I suffered from a drainage of the ears which was extremely painful and which impaired my hearing. On several occasions I was not able to hear the reading from the desk while attending a Church of Christ, Scientist.

I sought the help of a practitioner, who helped me to turn with greater understanding to the study of the weekly Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly. My attention was also called to the definition of "ears" in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. This definition reads in part (p. 585), "Not organs of the so-called corporeal senses, but spiritual understanding."

The healing of the condition was slow, but improvement was evident as I grew to understand my perfect selfhood, maintained by a loving Father-Mother God. I saw that as His image and likeness I was not sustained by matter or identified with any of its false claims. Soon I began to love Mrs. Eddy and to truly appreciate the wonderful truth she has given to us through her writings. I became member of The Mother Church and a branch church and later received class instruction. About this time I realized that the healing of the ear condition was complete, and it has remained permanent.
