PROGRESSIVE DEMONSTRATION

Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 283), "Mind is the source of all movement, and there is no inertia to retard or check its perpetual and harmonious action." The recognition of this fact aids the individual in overcoming the inertia of so-called mortal mind and its resistance to change and progress. The perfect movements of divine Mind, God of His ever-active law, overcome physical, mental, and moral abnormality. They wipe out the false beliefs of inaction, overaction, and reaction.

Progress is inevitable for those who submit themselves honestly and wholly to the movements of divine Mind. The beauty of healing in Christian Science lies in the fact that spiritual progress and growth in character always accompany such healing.

The general impression of mankind presents the individual as progressing rapidly, both mentally and physically, through childhood and youth. At the conclusion of this period of human existence one's character is considered to be established. Further growth and accomplishment are generally regarded as being dependent on health, education, and other conditions of one's environment. Men and women seem to be limited on all sides in their attempts to achieve progress and success. How discouraging is this view of existence!
