I have been helped and encouraged many times by the testimonies in our periodicals; so I should like to add my tithe of gratitude for guidance, protection, and healing.

As a child I was tone deaf, unable to follow any instrument with my voice. When I reached high school age, I went to a boarding school, as there was no high school in the village where I lived. My hopes rose as I started to take singing lessons, for I thought I would be taught to sing. My disappointment was great when the teacher said she could do nothing for me.

The following year a change in schools was made. In this new school I began taking piano and singing lessons from a Christian Scientist. In addition, prayerful metaphysical work was done for me. I was soon happily joining in the school singing and in the church hymns. My piano playing, which before had sounded wooden, became more alive and musical. How grateful I was for this release! Ever since, I have had the feeling that hymn singing is one way of expressing our gratitude for Christian Science.
