An Open House Enlarges Their Borders

[Note: Extracts from a report prepared for the Reading Room Division by the librarian of a branch church]

Los Angeles, California

At a staff meeting in March of this year it was decided to ask our executive board for permission to hold an Open House with the Reading Room committee in the Reading Room on a Sunday afternoon (when it was not regularly open to the public). The board was in hearty accord with the idea, and May 1 was chosen for this event.

The staff met with the Reading Room committee to formulate plans. The members of the staff and committee were divided into groups, each of which was assigned certain items in the stock with which to arrange a display. The evening before the Open House each group was allotted the space for its display and given the necessary items from the Reading Room stock.
