A HIGHLY VALUED BIBLE LESSON

Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 34), "If all who ever partook of the sacrament had really commemorated the sufferings of Jesus and drunk of his cup, they would have revolutionized the world." One may also say that if all who study the Bible Lessons, as outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly, would assimilate these lessons and live them, mankind's fear, ignorance, and sin would disappear.

Christian Scientists the world over study a lesson on "Probation after Death" twice every year. Twenty-five other subjects, together with the Lesson-Sermon for Thanksgiving Day, comprise the series provided by our Leader, Mrs. Eddy. The study of these lessons answers many questions concerning God. man, life, and death. And what question is more often asked than, "Where does death take one?"

When the writer's only child passed on suddenly following an accident, the pastor of her church declared: "This is God's will. God gives and God takes away." Instinctively she rejected such a doctrine, but she had no other to substitute for it until she learned the doctrine of Christian Science (Science and Health, p. 304): "that divine Love cannot be deprived of its manifestation, or object; that joy cannot be turned into sorrow, for sorrow is not the master of joy; that good can never produce evil; that matter can never produce mind nor life result in death."
