When I was a small child my mother was healed in Christian Science. From a weak, ailing woman she became a strong, healthy, and radiant one.

Although I always adhered to Christian Science for healing, I did not make much practical use of it until I became very ill while away from home and was compelled to return there. Then followed two and a half years of testing. For months at a time I remained in bed, at times attended by a Christian Science nurse. Although tempted to be examined medically, I am immeasurably grateful that I did not succumb to this temptation. Gradual recovery was made through Christian Science alone.

When I was apparently well, though not very strong, I was nominated for Second Reader of our branch church. I did not want to accept, and I wept. However, I knew that Christian Science had saved my life, and in gratitude I did not withdraw my name. While the votes were being counted, the congregation sang the hymn beginning (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 359), "Trust the Eternal." That was the angel message I needed.
