My first demonstration of Christian Science...

My first demonstration of Christian Science resulted in a change of employment. I had a lesson in meekness to learn first, but through the help of a practitioner I came out of the darkness of self-will. I am still learning similar lessons.

Another healing was of a great sense of fear, which was manifested in heart trouble. Through the help of a wise practitioner the fear was gradually overcome, and then the physical condition faded into nothingness. Mrs. Eddy says (Retrospection and Introspection, p. 61), "Christian Science declares that sickness is a belief, a latent fear, made manifest on the body in different forms of fear or disease."

Another experience came in the form of protection. The car in which my wife and I were riding skidded and went over a ten-foot embankment. This happened so quickly that all I could do was to exclaim aloud: "God is! God is!" My wife had on her lap the Bible, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and the Christian Science Quarterly. When we landed they were not even jarred off her lap. A truck pulled our car back onto the highway, and we went on our way rejoicing and praising God. This experience showed me that dangerous situations can be reversed by quick and simple declarations of Truth.
