TRUE SEEING

Every Sunday we hear read in our churches (I John 3:2), "Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is." This text reveals the great verity that only by our understanding of God and His creation can we realize our God-given state of true being.

John also tells us (III John 1:11), "He that doeth evil hath not seen God." From this we may deduce that seeing God as He is delivers men out of darkness and sin, the negation of Life, or misunderstanding.

Mary Baker Eddy says in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 335): "Spirit, God, has created all in and of Himself. Spirit never created matter. There is nothing in Spirit out of which matter could be made, for, as the Bible declares, without the Logos, the Æon or Word of God, 'was not anything made that was made.'" Repeating these statements is not enough. We must know that they are declarations of the truth and that before we can progress, we must prove their verity as far as we understand them. Knowing and seeing spiritually, we shall understand what constitutes our true being.
