OVERCOMING FRUSTRATION

Success is something greatly to be desired. But what is success? From a human standpoint the pattern of success includes an abundance of this world's goods, friends, and freedom to pursue one's chosen activities. Judged humanly, what is abundance to one may represent poverty to another. What is interesting work to one may prove boring or dull to another. Friends are judged differently according to one's interests, ambitions, and associations.

Through the study of Christian Science with its consequent spiritualization of thought, the pattern of true success is established. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy gives this definite direction for defeating frustration and achieving success (p. 462): "Some individuals assimilate truth more readily than others, but any student, who adheres to the divine rules of Christian Science and imbibes the spirit of Christ, can demonstrate Christian Science, cast out error, heal the sick, and add continually to his store of spiritual understanding, potency, enlightenment, and success."

How encouraging this message is! Each individual's unfoldment of right activity and spiritual understanding is successful, no matter how different or divergent it may be from another's. There are no degrees of good. There are many different expressions of good. Each expression is individual and complete and therefore should not be compared to another.
