[Original testimony in German]

That Christian Science is a practical...

That Christian Science is a practical religion I was privileged to witness three years ago. My husband left home on his motorcycle to do some business, saying that he would be back at noon. Time passed, and I waited in vain for his return. Toward evening I learned that he had sustained a fractured skull in an accident and had been taken to the hospital, where the doctor had very little hope that he would live through the night. When I heard this I telephoned at once to a Christian Science practitioner, who began prayerful work.

At first I was tempted to feel very fearful, but I knew that I could rely solely on God and that in doing so I was doing the best thing that could be done. It was clear to me that His love was supporting me and my husband and that in reality we were always in the presence of the Christ. These thoughts expelled fear, and about six o'clock in the morning I went to bed, knowing that God is all-power, all Life, and that there is no discord which can touch or injure His child. I had done all I could, placing everything in God's hands, and I knew that what He does is good.

About nine o'clock that morning my father called the hospital for me, and he was told that my husband had become decidedly better since six o'clock, although he was still unconscious. He remained unconscious for nearly three weeks, but no medicine was given. At one time an operation was suggested, but I said, "My husband does not need an operation," and none was performed. In five weeks he was able to leave the hospital, and there were no aftereffects. When he resumed his business activities, he was no longer obliged to use his motor cycle, but was able to purchase a little car, which was of great service to him. Truly this healing was a most inspiring proof to us of God's power, for which we are unceasingly grateful. Seven weeks later our little son was born. The birth was very easy and harmonious, almost painless.

Both my husband and I are very grateful for having learned of Christian Science when we were young and for the privilege of attending the Sunday School. It is a joy to know that our children are pupils there now. I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, where I have the opportunity of serving the Cause of Christian Science, and for class instruction. It is my desire to learn more of God each day so that I may truly call myself a Christian Scientist. — (Mrs.) Lotte-Liese Schneider, Seelze/Hannover, Germany.

I should like to corroborate my wife's testimony. Through the application of divine truth, as taught in Christian Science, I was delivered from what appeared to be fatal effects of the accident. For this blessing I wish to express my sincere gratitude to God. I am deeply grateful to Mrs. Eddy for discovering the Christ Science. Nor would I neglect to express my gratitude for the work of the Christian Science practitioner who helped me, to my wife for her loving support, and to the members of our branch church for their many kindnesses. I also wish to express my gratitude for the privileges of class instruction and of taking part in church activities.
