An expression of my gratitude...

An expression of my gratitude for Christian Science and the many blessings I have received through the study of the Bible and the writings of our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, was published in the Sentinel of May 3, 1941. I am most grateful for the good that has come into my experience since then.

There have been testing times which have necessitated sincere, consecrated efforts to learn more of God and of man, His image and likeness. When our younger son was lost in action in the submarine service of our country, courage and consecrated effort were required in order to hold fast to the truth of God and man. The healing of grief came when the truth was clear to my consciousness that nothing but good had happened or could happen to man, God's image and likeness. Therefore, there could be no separation. I am grateful for the support of my teacher during this experience. When my husband passed on a few years later, I was sustained by the truth that there is no death, for man is forever at one with Life, God.

One winter, while I was inspecting seeds in a seedhouse, the dust and cold caused frequent attacks of violent coughing and discomfort. I worked earnestly as we are taught in Christian Science, and the difficulty disappeared. Several years later an attack of influenza caused the condition to return in an exaggerated form. Help was asked for from a friend, a faithful student of Christian Science. Through this loving help, and through searching my thought, I discovered that the former experience was still very vivid to me. But when the truth was realized that man, the child of God, could not experience anything unlike God, the healing came quickly and has been permanent.
