I did not come into Christian Science...
I did not come into Christian Science for physical healing. In fact, I did not think I needed healing, as I had enjoyed excellent health. A business associate recommended that I try Science to help me in solving a business problem. I did, and the situation was agreeably adjusted. As I continued my study of Christian Science numerous healings took place. Social drinking and smoking were overcome, as were arrogance, selfjustification, and other undesirable characteristics that go along with a worldly life. I had thought that my life was my own and that I could live it as I pleased. I learned that God, good, is my Life, and I also learned to say in Jesus' words (Luke 22:42), "Not my will, but thine, be done."
Since I began the study of Christian Science, its efficacy has been proved to me many times. Broken bones and colds have been healed, home ties have been mended, and grief at the passing on of my father has been overcome. When suffering from an ulcerated tooth, I called for the aid of a practitioner, who declared the truth to me over the telephone, emphatically reversing the error. Almost immediately there was a drainage, and the discomfort and evidence of the condition disappeared.
For all the benefits I have received, including the blessings of membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, where I teach in the Sunday School, I am most grateful. Our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, is more appreciated daily, and the fortitude and courage expressed in her life offer a continued challenge to all true followers of our religion, which is based on the teachings of the master Christian, Christ Jesus. I am convinced that it was God's loving hand which drew me into the fold of Christian Science. — (Miss) Gladys E. Hale, Charlotte, North Carolina.
