BLESSINGS, NOT DANGERS, AWAIT US

Today , in a world where so many rapid changes have taken place, human thought is forced to reassess its scale of values. Fear sometimes seems to appear at the suggestion of change; but in Christian Science we find comforting assurance.

In her Message to The Mother Church for 1902 Mary Baker Eddy says (p. 19), "A danger besets thy path?—a spiritual behest, in reversion, awaits you." In the light of this statement, when faced with a problem we should not see error as a threat, but we should search for the blessing its reversal will bring. For this spiritual behest makes the experience rewarding. Its tender demand calls for a willingness to relinquish outworn forms so that we may grasp in greater measure the ever-new vitality of Spirit.

When we keep the desired goal in view, this vitality becomes our experience. Then, like the impetus expressed in a new bud which is throwing off its winter sheath, the impetus of Spirit enables us to break the bonds of limitation. As these fall away, the unfolding flower of God's perfect expression is revealed.
