A PRACTITIONER'S PRAYER

O Lord , save me from the false
artistry of words;
From the tendency to preach that
is acquired with bookish knowledge.
Save me from the noise of words that
argue in a merely intellectual way,
And from the secret boast that
would hide in the sound of holy words.

Father, ever help me to keep
full measure of humility,
Yet let me not forget my
true greatness as Thy child.
Grant me simplicity in speaking
and living and loving in Jesus' way.
May my words be one with the
healing radiance of Thy love.
