ANSWERED PRAYER

How may one's prayers be answered? Has not each of us asked this question in some human extremity? Many times when men have prayed to God to the best of their understanding, their prayers have been answered. This is evidenced in the wonderful occurrences which are related in the Bible, proving God's love and His tender care for man.

The prayers of Christ Jesus are perfect examples of answered prayer. He taught his followers the true meaning of prayer and how to pray effectively. He said (Matt. 7:7,8), "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened." This effective asking and seeking cannot be for material things; for God, being infinite Spirit, knows nothing of matter or mortality. It must be a humble seeking to know God's will —which is entirely good, like Himself. Actually infinite good is ever available to all.

In his own experience Jesus proved that righteous prayer is answered. No one before or since has prayed with such complete efficacy. Through the acknowledgment of man's present perfection as the son of God, he healed the sick folk who came to him and opened the eyes of the blind. Through his understanding that substance is spiritual, he fed the multitude from what seemed to be a totally inadequate supply of food, and there was an abundance for all.
