Through the inspiration and...

Through the inspiration and gratitude of a dear friend, who later became my wife, I was led to take up the study of Christian Science. This enabled me to find what she had already found, the true knowledge of God, as taught in Science.

Some time later, while spending a week end in a large city, I met with an accident and was taken to hospital in an unconscious condition. Immediate work was done for me by my wife, who declared the great truth that Life is God and that man lives, moves, and has his being in this Life. The effectiveness of the work was confirmed later when the hospital surgeon stated that X-ray pictures revealed the complete healing of a fractured skull, although no medical treatment of any kind had been given.

Subsequently, through the loving help of a Christian Science practitioner, the so—called laws laid down for me by medical science were overruled, and I was free. Mrs. Eddy's statement (Science and Health, pp. 380, 381) was proved true, "Every law of matter or the body, supposed to govern man, is rendered null and void by the law of Life, God." At the first Sunday church service I attended after this experience the subject of the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly was "God the Preserver of Man," and I heard read from the desk the words (Science and Health, p. 424), "Under divine Providence there can be no accidents, since there is no room for imperfection in perfection."
