Before I found Christian Science I had been ill for a period of nine years. Stomach trouble, colitis, enteritis, and complications of other diseases had left me in a very weakened condition. As time went on I lost all faith in medicines and doctors and even in God. As the doctors had told me that there was no help for me, and my prayers had not been answered, I only hoped that I would soon pass on.

That was the condition of things when one day some Christian Science literature was handed to my husband. He read me some of it, including the testimony of a man who had been healed of stomach trouble of eighteen years' standing. I immediately became interested and read the rest of the literature. That week there was a student of Christian Science in our home doing some sewing for us. When I told her that we had been reading the literature, she brought me some more, and I read it all. The last day she was with us she asked me if I was not feeling better. I was, but it had not occurred to me that it was because of Christian Science, as I knew nothing about it except the little I had read. Suddenly it came to me that it was Science which had brought about my improvement.

Then a wonderful thing happened. I seemed to be enveloped in light. It was as if a weight of tons had dropped from me, and I felt as light and free as if I were being lifted up into space. In that moment there was an instantaneous healing of all those ailments for which the doctors had said there was no help.
