In the back of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, as well as in "Miscellaneous Writings" by the same author, are testimonies from people who received healings just through reading Science and Health. While reading some of these I recalled healings I have had in the same way.

Once, when I had studied Christian Science only a few years, while I was waiting in a railroad station for a train I was suddenly attacked by violent pain, and my body began to ache all over. There was no time to call a practitioner, and I boarded the train. As soon as possible I opened Science and Health, certain that God would help me find a healing message. This is the passage I opened to (p. 14): "Become conscious for a single moment that Life and intelligence are purely spiritual,—neither in nor of matter,—and the body will then utter no complaints. If suffering from a belief in sickness, you will find yourself suddenly well."

After thinking this over prayerfully for a few moments and reasoning that life and intelligence are not in the body, I found myself agreeing with Mrs. Eddy's statements. I knew that they were the truth, and I was overjoyed with that knowledge. I was at once healed and had a pleasant sixhour trip.
