AFTER ITS KIND
Could
God express Himself in work
Halfway or badly done?
Could there be any gross mistake
In His beloved son?
Could Life's perfection image forth
That which is not its kind?
Or form a burlesque of ideas
To mock eternal Mind?
Could Love express itself as strife,
Unfriendliness, or hate?
Or Truth reflect the falseness of
An erring mortal state?
When God said, "Let there be," He was
Creating in His name.
The seed within itself was good;
Its fruit must be the same.
