As a small child I was always ill, and for a long time I had to lie on my back on a board. The doctor said that I was suffering from tuberculosis of the spine, and no hope was held for my recovery. My sister was then staying with a family of Christian Scientists in another town and became interested in their religion. With my mother's permission she asked a practitioner to help me. I began to improve almost immediately, and very soon the healing was complete. This healing the doctor described as a miracle.

I was brought up, however, still believing in material laws of health. When I was seventeen I suffered from acute sciatica. I had medical treatment for a year without experiencing any improvement. In fact the pain became so intense that I had to give up my school studies for several months. Then my sister recommended that I again try Christian Science. I agreed immediately, and a practitioner was asked for help. Through this help and my own earnest study I was healed.

At the same time I was cured of a curvature of the spine without any specific work being done for the trouble. Since then I have relied entirely on Christian Science to meet my every need, and I can never adequately express my gratitude to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for giving us this wonderful truth.
