I am grateful for the many ways...

I am grateful for the many ways in which Christian Science has helped me in my work at the university. One experience in particular I should like to relate.

In one of my courses I had to take an examination. This was the third examination in that course, and having made high marks in the first two, I unwittingly developed a false confidence. I failed to do my usual metaphysical work to protect myself from the limitations of mortal mind and to claim for myself the spiritual unfolding of Mind.

The examination was to be two hours in duration, and all of its five problems necessitated the use of drawing instruments. Because of a false sense of responsibility, I became so nervous that I was scarcely able to hold the instruments, much less draw with them. After one hour and forty-five minutes had elapsed I had done one problem, started the second, and had been unable to start on the remaining three.
