I give this testimony with a heart...

I give this testimony with a heart filled with thanksgiving to God for Christian Science. The first healing in our family through this Science was that of my wife, who was healed of chronic catarrh. Later our three-year-old son was instantaneously healed through Science of an internal rupture and of the hemorrhage which followed it.

When my wife suffered a severe stroke of paralysis, a physician was called by relatives who were not Christian Scientists. After he had examined her, he shook his head and said, "She will not live to get to the hospital; and if she does, she will not be alive in the morning." We decided to have Christian Science help instead of medical treatment. A practitioner worked faithfully for my wife, and in twenty-one days she had recovered so fully that she was able to walk two miles unaided.

I had been afflicted with asthma for ten years, having only short intervals of freedom. After a severe attack I telephoned a practitioner and gasped out the words, "Pray for me." She knew the voice, and before I had the receiver back in its place I was healed. That was over eight years ago, and there has been no return of the asthma.

A car going at a high rate of speed crashed into the car I was driving. I was taken to a receiving hospital, where examination showed broken ribs and internal injuries. The doctor informed me that I would have to stay in the hospital for a long time and that my recovery was doubtful. Upon being informed that I did not want medical help, but wanted to go home and have Christian Science treatment, he consented. I had a practitioner's help and as a result was very quickly healed.

For sixteen months I suffered from fear of old age, as well as from very bad eyesight and hearing. Even with glasses I could see to read only for short intervals, and then not without excessive pain. One ear was swollen, and I could not hear ordinary conversation. Through Christian Science both normal sight and normal hearing were restored to me at the age of seventy-two.

I am now eighty-two and enjoying the best health I have ever had. I am a member of The Mother Church and a branch church, have had class instruction, and get great joy from my church work. Also I subscribe for all our periodicals and read them without glasses.
