"I CANNOT COME DOWN"

Progress in Christian Science depends largely upon our ability to distinguish between right thoughts and aggressive evil suggestions. Constructive, good thoughts or ideas should be welcomed into consciousness, and those which involve fear, failure, or any inharmony should be immediately cast out. In this way one can prevent erroneous conditions from becoming part of his human experience. To do this one must understand that God, the All-in-all of being, is Mind; that there is one Mind only; and that man, at one with God, his Father-Mother, is in communication with and responsive to divine Mind alone.

The mind from which evil, discordant thoughts claim to come is no mind at all and is termed in Christian Science mortal mind. Therefore there is no authority behind evil thoughts and no reality in the conditions they imply.

The story of Nehemiah rebuilding the great wall of Jerusalem, related in the Bible, offers a helpful pattern of progress. Discerning the great need of his people, the Israelites, Nehemiah turned to God with all his heart to learn how he could help to meet it. Once he had gained the vision of the task God had for him to do, he pressed on undeviatingly until the work was complete.
