"We lift our hearts in praise" is...

"We lift our hearts in praise" is a line of Hymn No. 371 in the Christian Science Hymnal. At this stage in my progress in Christian Science my heart is lifted in praise for the many healings that have been experienced as I have been obedient to these words found in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 495): "Study thoroughly the letter and imbibe the spirit. Adhere to the divine Principle of Christian Science and follow the behests of God, abiding steadfastly in wisdom, Truth, and Love."

One of the first healings which I recall was that of a difficulty that had caused me to be under bondage to a therapeutic belt for many years. Many chiropractic and orthopedic treatments were given me with the hope that there might be a correction of the condition. X-ray pictures showed a bone in the pelvis to be out of position one and a quarter inches, and an operation was recommended.

However, some time later Christian Science was presented to me, and this operation never took place. A practitioner was called and treatment was given. At first there was no improvement, and I thought it would be necessary to return to material aid for relief from pain. I therefore called the practitioner again and told her that it was impossible for me to go on in Christian Science. She asked me to read Science and Health for an hour and then call her back.
