I should like to give praise and...
I should like to give praise and glory to God for the spiritual understanding that our family has received through its study of Christian Science.
When our daughter was born we were told that she probably would not live and that if she did she would never walk or talk. We did not accept this verdict and tried everything in a medical way to help. When she was eighteen months old we took her to a specialist, who diagnosed her condition as spastic paralysis and said: "You are wasting your time. There is no mentality. Put her in an institution and forget about her."
Her father had studied Christian Science to some extent, but I had been a medical nurse. I was not willing to try Christian Science until after six years had passed and I knew that medical science could not help.
