TRUE REALISM

In her book "Unity of Good" Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, says (p. 3): "God is All-in-all. Hence He is in Himself only, in His own nature and character, and is perfect being, or consciousness. He is all the Life and Mind there is or can be. Within Himself is every embodiment of Life and Mind." And she continues, "If He is All, He can have no consciousness of anything unlike Himself; because, if He is omnipresent, there can be nothing outside of Himself."

Step by step we must gain, and daily put into practice, the spiritual understanding of this dynamic declaration of the omnipotence, omnipresence, and omniscience of God. Thus we shall learn and appreciate that true realism which requires that we base our thinking, at all times and under all circumstances, on the eternal fact of the perfection of God and His universe and on the perfection of man as God's reflection.

In the light of our Leader's fundamental and uplifting statement quoted at the beginning of this article, we can rightly conclude that in the realm of the real there can never be a so-called mesmeric belief of materiality, mortality, or sensuality; that actually nothing that is alien to, or unlike, God ever has developed or ever can develop.
