Christian Science was presented to me at a time when I was greatly in need of help, for I was suffering severe pain almost constantly from neuritis. This condition prevented me from carrying out even the simplest household duties. Added to this, I suffered from severe headaches, which prostrated me for days at a time. I rejected Science at that time and struggled on in my woeful state for another two years, after which I became thoroughly discouraged, for material means had failed to cure me or even to relieve my sufferings.

It was again mentioned to me that Christian Science would heal me, and I was then willing to look into the subject. I borrowed the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, from a Reading Room, little realizing that in so doing I was taking my first step from darkness to light, from bondage to freedom.

Within a few days I gained such a wonderful glimpse of the healing power of Truth that I joyfully threw away all remaining medicines I had in the house. An additional two weeks of study brought me complete freedom from the neuritis. The headaches persisted, though decreasing in frequency and intensity, and yielded only to further consecrated study of the Bible and of Science and Health and the other writings of our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy.
