When quite a young woman I...

When quite a young woman I became very ill with what the medical profession called a dangerous fever arising from a congestion of several organs of the body. I was placed in a hospital and told that after my fever abated a major operation would be performed.

Although not a student of Christian Science at that time, I recalled that I had packed away in a trunk some copies of the Sentinel, thinking that if I ever had time I would read them. I requested that they be brought to me, and when they came I devoured their contents, saying to myself: "This is for me. 'God is no respecter of persons'" (Acts 10:34). I did not take any of the pills given me that night, but threw them all out of the window and went to sleep.

The next morning the nurse took my temperature and said: "Your temperature is normal. Now we will get you ready for your operation."
