I took up the study of Christian Science to get a better understanding of the Bible, thinking that if I could apply its teachings as Christian Scientists do, I would have something worth working for.

I am so grateful for the many blessings that Christian Science has brought to me and my family in the last thirty-five years. We have had many healings; it has helped us to solve business problems, and our sons have had wonderful help in their schoolwork. My brother was healed of cancer of the stomach through the reading of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.

In 1918, when there was an epidemic of influenza, our oldest son had an attack. He had a high fever and was delirious. After I had requested a practitioner to help him a friend called and suggested the use of medicine. I replied: "That is not in accordance with Christian Science. If God can't get him off that bed of sickness, there is nothing that can." My husband, who is not a Christian Scientist, was fearful, however, and said, "You must get a doctor tomorrow if that child isn't any better." As soon as my husband left for work the next morning I got out my Bible and Mrs. Eddy's writings and studied all day, never fearing we would have to get a doctor.
