HOW CAN I LEARN CHRISTIAN SCIENCE?

Like Christian in "Pilgrim's Progress," each one of us must find his own way to the Celestial City, that is, to the full recognition of God's allness and ever-presence. Each individual who has answered the call of the Christ has indicated a willingness to go up higher, and evil has no power to prevent his progress. Yet those who are beginning the study of Christian Science often wonder how and where to start. Those who once made a start but find they have missed the road wonder how to get back to the highway. And those who have stayed on it are always eager to progress more rapidly. Where can such seekers turn for guidance? No two people follow exactly the same path. However, the diversified and well-knit organization founded by our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, has signposts and reminders for all with eyes to see. The way is easier and less lonely if we follow the route indicated by these signposts.

In "Miscellaneous Writings" Mrs. Eddy says (pp. 113, 114): "The systematized centres of Christian Science are life-giving fountains of truth. Our churches, The Christian Science Journal, and the Christian Science Quarterly, are prolific sources of spiritual power whose intellectual, moral, and spiritual animus is felt throughout the land. Our Publishing Society, and our Sunday Lessons, are of inestimable value to all seekers after Truth."

The public lectures on Christian Science given in many parts of the world by members of The Christian Science Board of Lectureship are designed not only to correct popular misconceptions about Christian Science and to clarify world thought about Mrs. Eddy's position in the movement, but also to give a spiritual message for the beginner and for the advanced student of this Science. No one need feel that he knows too much or too little to benefit from attendance at one of these lectures. The divine Love which inspires the message attracts those in the community who are ready to receive it, provides a rich feast for all, and protects and nourishes the right ideas thus disseminated. In the brief space of an hour the unprejudiced newcomer may often hear for the first time of a system of thinking which is based on Principle and hence a solid foundation on which to build. The mature Christian Scientist may see some new light on an unsolved problem.
