My introduction to Christian Science...
My introduction to Christian Science took place thirty-six years ago, at which time I was instantaneously healed through the help of Christian Science practitioner of a sore throat and complete loss of voice. This healing was followed quickly by another. To my great joy my mother was immediately healed of heart disease through her reading of the first few chapters of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. These healings were so convincing that we started to attend the services at a Christian Science church, and from that time to this, Science has been my only source of healing.
Our Master said (John 8:32), "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free;" and our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, tells us in Science and Health (p. 183), "Truth casts out all evils and materialistic methods with the actual spiritual law,—the law which gives sight to the blind, hearing to the deaf, voice to the dumb, feet to the lame." I have seen this law in operation more times than I can tell in one brief testimony. Faithful work by practitioners at different times has brought about prompt healing of constant headaches, coughs, colds, influenza, nervous illnesses, palpitation; and the love and understanding shown at these times have always given renewed courage.
Although my life has not been an easy one, Christian Science has smoothed the path and helped me to provide for myself and two sons. I am always grateful for the teaching of the Sunday School, which sent our boys out so well equipped to meet situations encountered during war service. Not once, but many times has the truth learned in their earlier years proved sufficient to protect and guide them. When the boys were children, their unquestioning faith in and use of the power of the Lord's Prayer alone, more than once brought healing to me when I was unable to help myself.
