In gratitude to God for our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, and for our earnest practitioners I testify to the healing power of Christian Science. I had read authorized literature on this Science in a casual way for some twelve years, though I was a member of an orthodox church. About nineteen years ago I became desperately ill and tried every known form of medicine, to no avail. I was very weak, and the doctor advised me to make my peace with God as nothing could be done to heal me.

My wife had many times before asked me to give Christian Science a chance. This time when she spoke of it I consented. A Christian Science practitioner was called and an appointment made. As soon as I sat down in her office I forgot myself: the room was filled with the glory of God. We talked for two hours, and it was especially brought out that God is All-in-all, filling all space. This fact was so apparent to us both that I was healed, and there has been no return of the trouble. I immediately began to gain strength and weight and was better than I had been in many years.

I studied our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and the smoking habit of forty years' standing disappeared. Social drinking became very obnoxious to me, and it too disappeared. I found that I had to correct through my daily prayer the thought of malice toward those who still smoked and drank. That erroneous thinking was also healed.
