TRUE SEEING

"I Am glad to see you" is the greeting we give to a friend. Are we seeing the real man or the imperfect mortal? Christian Science points out that since the Bible tells us that God, Spirit, created man in His image and likeness, this is the man we should be seeing. The mortal, which the material senses see, is only a counterfeit. Who would accept a counterfeit dollar if he knew it to be one? Just as we would refuse to accept a counterfeit dollar and demand a genuine one, so we must refuse to accept a mortal as reality and instead see the real man of God's creating.

Christian Science shows us that true seeing heals and blesses. Mary Baker Eddy explains in her writings that this was how Christ Jesus healed sickness and sin. She writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (pp. 476, 477): "Jesus beheld in Science the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appears to mortals. In this perfect man the Saviour saw God's own likeness, and this correct view of man healed the sick." If we see the perfect man, as the Master did, we too can bless all upon whom our thoughts rest.

Do we see man as the reflection of divine Love, therefore loving and lovable? Then we are loved and welcomed wherever we go, and we bring joy and health to those with whom we come in contact.
