I should like to tell of a healing that began about eight years ago. From a very small child I had been beset with great fear. It did not matter what the object was, a person, falling snow, a harmless fluttering butterfly, anything would terrify me enough to make me scream with fright.

My parents had been interested in Christian Science for years and had, through it, tried to help me overcome this fear. I was greatly helped, but the condition was not healed completely and settled into a terrible shyness. This kept me from entering and enjoying any activity, and all my efforts to work out of this false state seemed to be of no avail.

When in high school I became interested in a hobby that made my presence desirable to others, and I soon joined the high school glee club. When I discovered that my voice was of solo caliber, I renewed my efforts to correct the timidity that had hindered me for so long. I loved my hobby very much and did not see why I should give it up because mortal mind was trying to tell me that I was afraid of people and crowds.
