IMMUTABLE SIGHT
True sight is the ability to distinguish spiritual ideas, to perceive creation as it exists in reality— God's reflection. Every individual possesses this ability as a heritage of the one Father and, by bringing man to light as God's spiritual son, is able to prove the dominion of spiritual discernment over material disabilities. Then a better sense appears, and a normal manifestation of so-called human sight is restored. And so it will continue until it is fully proved that man is not a creature of flesh, but the incorporeal expression of divine Mind, or God, whose faculties are spiritual, immutable, and infinite in their scope of perception.
Christ Jesus saw beyond the meager limits of the human eye. He beheld spiritual man and perceived that it is through man that the Mind-faculties are individualized and manifested. It is this relationship that makes man's perception as inseparable from God as is his integrity, his intelligence, or his wisdom. It was the Master's knowledge of this eternal relationship of Father and son that empowered him to dispel the illusion of impaired vision. Whatever originates in Deity remains intact in Mind as its idea and there retains its immutable character.
Christian Science demonstrates these spiritual facts, and through it poor eyesight and even total blindness have been healed. The fundamental truth which this Science reveals, that God is one all-seeing Mind, bases such healings. Because divine Mind is consciousness, sight is purely a faculty of consciousness; and man, who shows forth, or exhibits, the idea of divine discernment, expresses this Soul-sense as a faculty of consciousness and not as an ability of matter. Mary Baker Eddy says in "No and Yes" (p. 10), "When a so-called material sense is lost, and Truth restores that lost sense,—on the basis that all consciousness is Mind and eternal,— the former position, that sense is organic and material, is proven erroneous."
