Signs of the Times

The Rev. Leslie E. Cooke, B.A., B. D. in an article in the Christian World London, England

Nothing is more significant in the realm of human relationships than the acceptance of unenforceable obligations. It is life with a plus which makes all the difference. Duty plus graciousness, service plus thoughtfulness. The joys of life lie in this, for it is the unexpected kindnesses, the unlooked-for considerations, which warm our hearts. This living with a plus carries conviction, too, for it is a sure sign that in what we say and do we are serious and sincere. Jesus recognized this truth when he said that by such living his followers would witness to the world whose they were and whom they served. They were therefore to go the second mile and to do more than others, that the world might know that they were his disciples.
