I attended a Christian Science...

I attended a Christian Science church service when I was eighteen with a sister who had received a healing of a condition which had all the symptoms of tuberculosis. I loved the simple, direct service, and I have never been in any but a Christian Science church since that time. During the years following, however, I was not always a consecrated student. Many times fear crept in, and I stumbled along the way of mortal mind's suggestion, only to be brought up sharply each time and forced back into Truth's stright and narrow way. In John (14:6) we read, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." I can say that when Christian Science has been honestly applied and adhered to, it has never failed me.

In our textbook, Science and Health, our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, says (p. 271), "Those, who are willing to leave their nets or to cast them on the right side for Truth, have the opportunity now, as aforetime, to learn and to practise Christian healing." Many are the healings experienced in our home; some were accomplished by my own work, others by the help of a loving and faithful practitioner. The following conditions handled in Christian Science bear witness to the truth: infantile paralysis, a sinus condition of long standing, pneumonia, and a severe burn, the effects of which, according to materia medica, would have resulted in a handicap for at least a year. Painless childbirth was also experienced. My son's car, taken from the parking space at his work, was returned and left within five feet of its original place after being gone for over a month. A plane reservation, a large sum of money, a Navy "leave," and all identification papers were lost from another son's pockets as he rode his motor-cycle over a thickly populated area. These articles were recovered within three hours after a practitioner was called.

Never for a moment, in the case of these so-called lost and stolen possessions, was error allowed to supplant the truth that in God's kingdom all is complete and intact. For all these and many other healings I am very grateful, as these testing times are truly proof of God's loving care. I gratefully acknowledge Truth's efficacy in dis closing faults of character and revealing man as God's image and likeness. For the privilege of membership in The Mother Church and in a Christian Science Society and for having had the privilege of teaching in the Sunday School and serving in other branch church activities, I am profoundly grateful. I am increasingly aware of our Leader's priceless gift of Christian Science to the world. I am grateful to God for His goodness and to Christ Jesus, the Way-shower.— (Mrs.) Elsie M. Blair, Saugus, California.
