Because the testimonies of gratitude...
Because the testimonies of gratitude appearing in the Christian Science periodicals bring such a steady flow of inspiration and encouragement into our home, I should like to cite a few of the ways in which Christian Science has enriched my experience.
Since the printing of my testimony in 1942 we have had many blessings. We bought our house just before my husband volunteered for war service. This came about with a minimum of human effort on our part, and I have come to see with increasing gratitude how we were divinely led. At another time, when we moved to an eastern city, the first apartment we in spected was exactly what we wanted, and later, when we needed a larger apartment to accommodate another member of the family, a convenient location was found in a short time. These moves were always preceded by a study of the words home and place in their spiritual meaning, using the Concordances to the writings of Mrs. Eddy. The privilege of attending Christian Science lectures and church services and studying in the Reading Rooms maintained by the Christian Science churches of this large city will always be recalled with deep gratitude.
Since returning to a small community I have had many proofs of the magnitude of Love. I have learned that the study of the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's writings is infinitely more satisfying than any other activity, and my mental outlook and my concept of home have been purified and uplifted. Healings of willfulness and self-pity, reliance on persons, and subordination to human verdicts have gradually come about in some measure and have resulted in a clearer concept of our divine inheritances as children of God. Acute illnesses in the home have been rare, and when physical diffculties have arisen, they have been almost immediately met by applying the truth through our own efforts or with the help of a practitioner.
