I wish to express my gratitude...

I wish to express my gratitude for the many blessings I have received through the study of Christian Science and for the help of faithful practitioners.

I was reared in a good Christian home by parents who were faithful workers in an orthodox Sunday School and always attended church, but I was reared with the belief that healing had been a part of religion only in the time of Jesus' advent on earth and that it now belonged to the medical profession. That subject was always passed over with the comment that the day of miracles was over; so our home medicine chest was always well stocked with currently popular remedies, and doctors' bills were numerous.

Due to the aftereffects of an injury sustained in a high school basketball game, I underwent a serious operation, but continued to be very frail. After becoming acquainted with Christian Science and taking up the daily study of our Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly, I increased from ninety-five pounds to one hundred and thirty-six pounds in weight within a short time and have maintained my normal weight since then. I not only lost my belief in the efficacy of medicines, but my outlook on life changed from one of discontent and unhappiness to one of harmony and happiness.
