I have waited too long to acknowledge...
I have waited too long to acknowledge publicly the blessings that have come to me and mine through the study and application of Christian Science. For the past twenty-six years we have enjoyed peace, health, and happiness, and we give all the credit to this great religion and to its Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy. Our two sons attended the Christian Science Sunday School, and the instruction received there has never left them. Their service in the late war, one of them in the Air Corps and one in the Navy, proved to them and to us just where their protection lay. Neither of them was injured, nor was a single man in their respective crews wounded.
I was healed of smoking and drinking early in my study of Christian Science. These healings came through the consecrated work of a practitioner after many years of my trying to overcome these habits through sheer will power and other means. Business problems that tried to baffle me were pleasantly solved, sometimes with a practitioner's help and sometimes through my own study. Very early in our study the school doctor sent us a message that our boy should have his tonsils and adenoids removed at once. Work was taken up, and at the next examination by the same doctor the boy was passed as not needing the operation.
One son, being accidentally struck in the face, bled profusely from the nose. This continued hour after hour in spite of our own work. Help was asked for from a practitioner, and the bleeding stopped for a while, but broke out again in a more violent form. In a talk with me the practitioner said, "You seem quite fearful." I told him that I was having difficulty ridding myself of the picture, and that in spite of all the truths I had learned and was trying to apply, the picture was that the boy was about to pass on. He asked if I wanted medical attention instead of Christian Science. I replied that I did not, but the boy was old enough to decide for himself. I put the question to him, and he shook his head in the negative. I then telephoned the practitioner, and in a matter of minutes the bleeding ceased altogether. The decision made, the result was instantaneous. He was healed.
