A RECIPE FOR PEACE

"If there is righteonsness in the heart, there will be beauty in the character. If there is beauty in the character, there will be harmony in the home. If there is harmony in the home, there will be order in the nation. When there is order in the nation, there will be peace in the world." So, according to the writer's information, states an old Chinese proverb.

Before considering how peace can be established in oneself and the home, and so in the world, it might be well to ask this question: "What is it that claims that peace is not at hand, that it is something yet to be made?" The answer to this question is that it is mortal mind which says so and which would prove that it is right by arguing for the reality and presence of hatred, selfishness, lust, greed, and other unlovely beliefs.

But Christian Science denies all that mortal mind claims. In "Miscellaneous Writings" Mary Baker Eddy says on page 82, "Mortal mind is a myth." This being so, the way to bring peace into our lives is to deal with all suggestions of this so-called mind as we would with anything we know to be false: recognize its nothingness and powerlessness and realize the allness and omnipresence of that which is true, namely, God, good.
