My first experience in Christian Science...
My first experience in Christian Science took place over thirty years ago when I was healed of chronic stomach trouble, from which I had suffered for many years. The healing came about through my reading of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Selfishness, envy, and resentment were routed out of my thinking, and I realized that I had found the truth of God. Soon after this healing I had a desire to become affiliated with the Christian Science movement and became a member of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, Later I joined a branch church, and the opportunity to serve in its various activities has been a great joy and blessing.
At the time of the passing of a loved one my thought was so flooded with a clear vision of life as undying that I was instantly healed of grief and separation. Deep appreciation is felt for many instantaneous healings and for the valuable lessons I have learned through slower healings. These compelled me to search deeper into Christian Science and thus brought about increased spiritual understanding and a clearer realization of God's omnipotence. For healings of headaches of long duration, influenza, contagion, ptomaine poisoning, accident, and many other difficulties, for harmonious childbirth, for the opportunity of rearing our two children in Christian Science, and for the protection afforded them. I am grateful.
I am deeply grateful to God and to Christ Jesus, the Way-shower; also to Mrs. Eddy for her divine revelation of Christian Science, which she has given to us through her inspired works. I am thankful too that this blessed truth has been my only physician for so many years. I am humbly grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in branch church and for the loyal workers throughout the Field. My sincere prayer is that I may live my gratitude humbly and lovingly in my every thought and deed through the realization of the everpresent Christ.—(Mrs.) Caroline K. Carter, Ventura, California.
