In the textbook, Science and Health...

In the textbook, Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, we read (p. 152), "Truth has a healing effect, even when not fully understood." My interest in Christian Science was aroused by hearing disparaging remarks about it. Because of the descriptions I heard of Science I determined to investigate thoroughly Mrs. Eddy's textbook, and I am grateful to Mind for that guidance.

No language is sufficiently comprehensive to express my gratitude for the things I am learning. Through reading Science and Health, I have proved what Truth can do. One of our sons was struck in the face with a baseball bat, and the blow loosened several of his front teeth. I knew nothing about how one worked in Christian Science, so I relied on the fact that I had accepted the truth and would be guided. Then the thought came, "There are no accidents with God." I had remembered reading something to that effect and had accepted it. In less than an hour his teeth were solidly in place, and I was most grateful to know that at last I had found a practical, reasonable, and satisfying way of living. Later, through the earnest work of a practitioner, I was healed of smoking in three weeks' time, a habit of many years' duration.

Also I want to express gratitude for the work done by consecrated Christian Scientists, who are so lovingly giving a "cup of cold water" in the name of the Christ.—(Mrs.) Irma A. Hawkins, Gowanda, New York.
