GOODNESS IN HUMAN EXPERIENCE
The teachings and life of Christ Jesus have long been well known. A portion of mankind has for some time been denominated Christian. However, lacking the essential spiritual understanding of Jesus' works and words, men have not experienced the full measure of goodness that he promised would rightly be theirs. Varying degrees of agnosticism, disbelief, and materialism have as a consequence crept into popular thinking. Yet the sincere seeker for good need not be discouraged by present-day thinking or conditions.
Speaking to his immediate students and to all who desire spiritual truth, Jesus said: "I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him.... But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you."
Christian Science is that "Spirit of truth" which Jesus promised. It fulfills Scriptural requirements by healing the sick and sinful. This Science reveals the knowledge of God that Jesus taught and demonstrated. Its Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy, faithfully followed in the footsteps of our great Master and has given to the world the Christ Science. She has revealed in her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and in other works that the source of all goodness is God, divine, unchanging Principle, Love, and that man is the idea, or expression, of God, good. Man's heavenly Father is continually blessing his beloved child with an abundance of goodness. Whatever suggests a lack of good or the presence of evil is a false concept, an unreal belief. A knowledge of man's spiritual individuality and blessedness destroys the beliefs and fears of mortal mind and brings into human experience lasting goodness. It reveals man as conscious only of the things of Spirit, or God.
